Musical Journey
DJ JONO aka Jonathan was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. His birth date is June 6th, 2001. He's currently in the 12th grade and pursuing a career in either plumbing, HVAC or as an electrician. He is still trying to figure it out.
Jonathan's interest in music and mixing began at the early age of 4. He was inspired by his Dad (DJ OTIS) of the Xplosion Sound Crew. He learned very quickly how to carefully handle vinyl records on his dad's Technics. In the first grade he was so in love with the idea of deejaying, he created his own turn-table with moving parts and a mixer out of cardboard and crayons. It even had its own sliding crossfader. About the same time Jonathan began piano lessons and would play old reggae rhythms by ear.

At the age of 6, Jonathan would spend hours and hours each day going through crates and crates of music. He played and got to know all types of music from Oldies, Old School Reggae, Hip Hop & Rnb, Soca, Calypso, Chutney and Indian. Soon he began mixing his Dad's old tunes with new school style of music.

Jonathan's journey of music began playing vinyl on Technics. Next it was a Denon DJ DN-D9000 cd mixer, then a M-Audio Xponent mini controller. He graduated to the first generation of Pioneer DDJ SX controller to a DDJ SZ2. Things have gotten a lot more compact and lighter. Whew!

Today, Jonathan continues his journey as a young, upcoming DJ who has played for numerous fundraisers including "Ballin for Breast Cancer" and "2017's Children's Charity Christmixx" He also represented at his school's "Caribbean Carnival" and the 2017 and 2018 Durham Caribbean Carnivals.
Currently, you can find Jonathan spinning on Wine Down Wednesdays at the Island Mix Restaurant & Lounge in Pickering. Or, check him out at the Strada Car Show bi-weekly Summer Meets where he plays along side his cousin (DJ LAWLESS). DJ JONO represents the Xplosion Sound Crew, The New Generation and plays for school dances, semi formals, All Ages events, Sweet 16's, house parties and formal events.
